Measurement WG DevWeek: Day 5
April 25, 2015 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
On our final day, we paid a short visit to the nearby small wind test site, SEPEN:
It’s been an incredible week here at Lîlegal – we’re already much closer to our goal of developping an open-source datalogger for Wind Empowerment members, however much of the discussion today was on how we are going to continue this momentum after this week. Primarily we’ll be using GitHub to manage the development process, uploading code, hardware designs and building a wiki with the following pages:
- To Do List
- For the developer
- Sensors
- Micro-controller
- Power supply
- Data storage (SD card)
- Data transmission
- Post-processing/visualisation
- Tools
- Protocol
- Meteorological masts
- For the end user
- System diagrams
- User manuals
Even if you weren’t able to participate in this Development Week, if you’re interested in being involved, please do get in touch with us via GitHub or the Measurement WG forum. This is an open-source collaborative project, so the more expertise we have involved, the faster we will be able to progress.
Finally we all need to say a huge thank you to the following people:
- Gillou and Lilian for hosting us here at Lîlegal
- our head chef and organiser of the hoard, Jay Hudnall
- Matt Little for answering our constant barrage of questions throughout the week
- Tomas, Rafael, Kimon, Noam, Loïc, Christian, Clement, Aran, Piet and everyone else who couldn’t be here in person, but contributed to the week via the Measurement WG forum or the live Q&A session on Thursday
- The WISIONS initiative, for their generous support for this weeks’ activities
- Everyone who attended for making it not just a productive, but also a really fun week
