KAPEG is an organization primarily involved in applications-oriented electrical engineering research primarily focused on the renewable energy field. The organization conducts research and development projects in the multidisciplinary engineering field, which supports the local industry and academia. The main area of work that KAPEG has built its expertise in is locally manufactured small wind turbines and solar-wind hybrid systems for rural electrification, and small hydro systems for rural off-grid electrification. The areas of work also involve clean cooking solutions, access to cost-effective clean drinking water, and high altitude greenhouses. KAPEG has been involved in multiple community-level projects since its establishment in the field of renewable energy and off-grid installation and feasibility study projects and core research projects.
