Background:Describe the background situation that leads to this project proposal – why should we do this?
Development of a controller strategy and rotor optimization
Improve rotor design, optimise structure dynamics
Description deliverable: Describe the product outcome of the project – what will be delivered, and in which format?
Componentwise loading, controller parameters
Approach: Described the methodology to be used in the project – how are we going to achieve our targets?
Use FAST (open source) code to model the full turbine. Structural data of the current model is necessary together with profile coeficients.
FAST is usable for furling turbines therefore applicable for the case. Pre and Post-processing tools also available.
Estimated capacity & competences needed:
Considerable structural dynamics, aerodynamics competences.
Capacity: 1 mech/structural engineer with knowledge of low Re regimes, 2-4 months time. One person more for review process.
