This is an old revision of the document!

Welcome to Windempowerment's Wiki!

Here we can build up some common knowledge base on locally manufactured small wind turbines (LMSWT). Exciting isn't it ?

You can upload content in your own language and translate it later in english if you wish, thanks to our translation plugin. You can also directly import documents to the wiki format thanks to the “import” function on the right of the editing window.

If you have any question about ho this wiki works, jump to the documentation page.

Contribution philosophy

A good thing about wikis is their “informal” aspect that makes it easy for anyone to participate. On wikis, it is ok to make mistakes. The community is there to check. So don’t be afraid to participate. Of course, if you don’t know what you are talking about you'd better ask some help if you wish to document something. The confidence of the community about the content will depend on the quality of the content and its reliability. But better do something and risk to make mistakes than do nothing, right ?

Referecing is good practice… To be completed.

How to contribute

If you would like to imagine and manage this wiki with us you can :

If you just want to upload content without taking part of the wiki management this is fine. But the more people stay up to date with the mailing list, the more coherent will be the wiki.

Contribution guidelines

* Reference your work as much as possible

Open questions :

  • If some material is already published another licence, how does it combine with the wiki licence ?

There should be a page on open source licences and advice on how to choose the licence according to the needs of the publisher, with somes examples of licences and wind projects.

Answer : Except where otherwise noted, content on this wiki is licensed under the following license: CC Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International (according to the bottom of the page) This means that you can upload content with any licence on this wiki, the point is to mention it. By default, the CC Attribution Share-Alike 4.0 International applies.

  • Is that alright to advertise some projects on the wiki ?

We think as long as it is informative it is ok to write about projects. However it should not be used for agressive advertising that would disadvantage other members/projects.

  • Should the wiki talk about the “how-to” or just be an encyclopedia linking to sources of knowledge?

We tend to think that in order to avoid competition between the members, the wiki should be a web that makes connections between the concepts and send to the different manuals/resources, to let the possibility to the authors to get rewarded for their hard work. This does not prevent the authors from publishing their work on the wiki if this is their wish.

To be documented

  • Charge controller principles (PWM dump load)

Main working groups pages also contains some things to be documented.
