Bright Planet Education is an adopted project of Window on the World.

We have designed a range of horizontal axis axial flux wind generators with typical output 150 watts at 10 metres per second wind speed*. They can be built with simple workshop facilities and tools and assembly requires no special skills. They are therefore well-adapted to self-build projects.

To demonstrate the simplicity of construction, we have taught practical workshops in schools and universities, the latter under the aegis of Engineers without Borders.

Our next main project is to conduct a hands-on workshop in the Technical University of Chile, Coyhaique Campus. In particular, we aim to attract members of local indigenous communities (Mapuche Nation). This link was made through Alexis Salgado Moreno who posted a letter on the Wind Empowerment website and who is our local organizer in Coyhaique.

A willingness to share our technical knowledge, our enthusiasm for the aims of Wind Empowerment and our advocacy skills with particular reference to the United Nations “Sustainable Energy for All” initiative. This aims to solve the problem of Energy Poverty by providing everyone worldwide with at least 1 kilowatt of energy. Our aim is more modest – only 100 watts per person. But this can give safe lighting, radio, mobile phone and netbook charging, water pump and light use of power tools.

To demonstrate the applicability of our technology to rural development, we use our aerogenerators to power an off-the-grid home in rural Northumberland in North East England.
