EuroTrip 2017 pt.1 – Brussels & Luxembourg

First stop

We headed to the EU Parliament where we had an appointment scheduled to meet MEP Mr. Claude Turmes in the lovely city of Brussels. There was a last minute change of the meeting location but to our advantage we were able to see the Auto World museum where a conferences was being held. We managed to have a productive discussion over lunch with Mr. Turmes and were inspired to create new ideas. We appreciated him taking the time to meet with us and are excited for the new opportunities that will develop.

Second stop

WindMobile (WM) and Pure Self Made(PSM) invited us to stop by in Ettlebruck, Luxembourg to check out the collaborative work and building of a 2F Piggott turbine. Guy Putz from WM has been teaching students (high school and University) practical hands-on wind turbine projects in Luxembourg. It was incredible to see the work Guy and his team are promoting amongst the students and the well equip lab they have created amongst other like-minded teachers. Check out his work online.

We joined WM in an awards ceremony, were they along with three students from Lycee Technique d’ Ettlebruck received an award presented by the Minister of the Environment  Ms Carol Dieschbourg. We had the opportunity to network with Ms Dieschbourg and shared similar objectives for the potential partnership and /or collaboration of projects relating to the encouragement of education locally and internationally along with sustainable development. We left feeling inspired and excited for the projects that can happen.

During the course of the week Jonathan Schreiber from PSM shared with us the way he teaches a wind turbine build. Empowering people and making them see things from a new perspective is what Jonathan enjoys, and we were happy to be part of it!  As a travel instructor, condensing tools and minimizing the equipment needed is a must! Very clever of Jonathan to have several ways to make the course easier to teach and build by having material pre-made for the students. Be on the lookout online to see the nifty tools he may be putting out there.

Overall an exciting week filled with productive meetings, turbine build, sharing WE mission and vision and energized participants as the turbine spun fast in the pouring rain – Check out the video below.
