Power curve measurements on different DIY turbines
Two types of hand-build wind turbines have been tested in a test field for small wind turbines in Schoondijke, the Netherlands. Very useful data has been collected on the performance of our turbines; power curves have been determined and high wind behavior has been monitored. The performance of the turbines could be compared to several commercial turbines both HAWT as VAWT. It can be concluded that the Hugh Piggott design turbines outperforms most commercial turbines and at much lower cost.
