Methodology Measurement Power Curve based on IEC – 61400-12-1 -H

Abstract of the presentation –  The IEC61400-12-1 rule provides the methodology for obtaining the power curve for wind turbines. In the specific case of low-power wind turbines (those whose swept by the rotor area is less than 200m2), particular conditions specified are listed in Annex H of that standard. Due to the nature of the wind resource and how this is affected by the surrounding environment, the standard establishes a methodology for measurement of meteorological variables and power, as well as criteria for the validation of the data obtained. INTI’s laboratory Wind Energy in the City of Cutral Co, runs a program of industrial sector strengthening. Within program activities power curve measurements are performed. To date there have been six trials with systems locally manufactured, the results can be obtained at the website of the laboratory.

About the presenters – Juan Pablo Duzdevich has been with INTI since 2010. He developed from the beginning the Program to Strengthen National Wind Turbine Manufacturers of Low Power. In 2012 he inaugurated the Wind Energy Laboratory in the city of Cutral Co. Juan has participated in the testing of power curve under IEC61400-12-1 – h, in SWAT meetings (Small Wind Association of Testers). He is the coordinator of the Technical Unit of Energy in INTI Neuquen.

Andrés Zappa has been with INTI since 2012 in the Technical Unit of Energy INTI Neuquen. He is the technical analyst at the Wind Energy Laboratory in the city of Cutral Co. Andrés has participated in the testing of power curve under the IEC61400-12-1 – h, in SWAT meetings (Small Wind Association of Testers) and interlaboratory exercises with CIEMAT and SWAT.
