I am 5th generation mechanical engineer from my fathers side of the family. I finished my Masters in Biomechatronics where the subject was about analysing the human gait (walk) from an engineering control and dynamical point of view.
I always had a keen interest in Renewable Energy and leaded me to work in Big Wind industry as engineer at the engineering department.
After two years of doing calculations on large turbines, I wanted to make a small turbine with my own hands. After some searching I met Hugh Piggott and followed a workshop. From there everything went into an acceleration and before you know you are – together with your friends – setting up an project in Mali where you try to spread this knowldge to a group of 10 local people and coaching to setup a company in Mali, Africa. As natural step, I started getting involved in all kind of cool activities with other members of the WindEmpowerment association.
Research specialities and interest:
Studied Mechanical engineering with specialisation on control and dynamics
Experience in starting setting up project in developing country
Capable of analysing large data sets and finding trends
Basic site assessment experience
Basic knowledge about windturbine design and structures (FEM)
Basic project management skills learned at Siemens
Personal info I like to share:
I live together with my Isabel Ruiz Almeyda (another windturbine nut) in The Hague, Netherlands. We will marry in summer 2015. When I am not busy with wind turbine stuff, I like to do water sports like surf/windsurf or sail. Furthermore in my free time I like to cook nice food for my friends whenever financial situation allows.
